All the big players have already done so and it was only a matter of time before Twitter followed suit and joined the herd. Twitter has announced the launch of their new search features which they claim will help users find credible information on Vaccines. In a Blog post Twitter vice president of trust and safety Del Harvey wrote:
‘We recently launched a new tool so when someone searches for certain keywords associated with vaccines, a prompt will direct individuals to a credible public health resource. In the United States, we partnered with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and point people to vaccines.gov.’
He went on to say:
‘This new investment builds on our existing work to guard against the artificial amplification of non-credible content about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines. We already ensure that advertising content does not contain misleading claims about the cure, treatment, diagnosis or prevention of certain diseases and conditions, including vaccines.‘
With all the major players online now on board and dancing to the same state orchestrated tune, finding information other than that which is in line with the state narrative is becoming increasingly more difficult. Don’t misunderstand us, of course there is plenty of false information online surrounding the topic of Vaccines, both in support of vaccines and in opposition to vaccines – however, this latest clamp down across all social media platforms is not about ensuring accurate information to its users, its about providing one voice on the subject. A voice which is preached by the Pharmaceutical companies and echoed by the health authorities and governments from around the World.
We urge everyone to do their own research, don’t blindly trust information from either side of the debate, but also don’t dismiss information from either side of the debate. Look at it all, come to your own conclusions and come to an informed decision. That is your right.
